This is from Mitch W1SJ about operating W1AW/1 this month and next month." W1AW/1 From Vermont! As part of the Volunteers On the Air (VOTA) program sponsored by the ARRL, I have been tasked with putting together operators to operate as W1AW/1 in Vermont. There are two periods:Tuesday, Mar 28 8PM - Tuesday, April 4 8PM (3/29-4/4 UTC) andTuesday, Aug 15 8PM - Tuesday, Aug 22 8PM (8/16-8/22) UTCWe can operate W1AW/1 on the non-WARC bands of 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10 meters plus any VHF/UHF bands, on any modes. This will likely boil down to SSB, CW and FT8/4, although other digital modes like RTTY are possible. The last time we did this, there was no FT8 - just RTTY!We are looking for operators! There are many different ways to play.1. On the busy phone bands of 40/20/15 meters, we need the better stations and better ops to handle the many people who will be calling. Things will be quieter on the other bands, at various times, allowing smaller stations to jump in and operate.2. A lot of people still work CW. Fortunately, so far, we have a lot of CW operators 3. Small station? New operator? No problem. Sign up for a digital slot on FT8 or FT4. The software does much of the work for you. You will have to configure the software correctly, though.4. Technician operator? Choose a slot on 10 meters (28.3-28.5) during the day, or even 6 meters, if it should open. Or else choose option 5...5. No station? A few of the operators will open up their stations forvisitors. We will get a list of who wants to host and who wants to operate and we'll attempt to match people up.Our goal is to put W1AW/1 on as many band-mode combinations as we can during the 168-hour period of the week we are active.Requirements:1. You have to sign up for this in advance - by March 26!2. You will get access to our scheduler. Please use this to accuratelyindicate where and when you plan to operate3. Be sure to adhere to your skeds!4. You must keep an electronic log and will have to submit an ADIF file to me at the end of the week. Be sure you can do this BEFORE you operate. I will collect the logs and submit them to the ARRL, who will upload them to LOTW.Please indicate if you are interested, or not interested in helping out in this endeavor so I can direct communications to the right people. For now, just reply to the message. If you know of anyone else who would like to help out, have them contact me.So far, I have heard from: AA1SU, K1ARR, K1LI, K1ZK, KE1VT, N1SP, W1ZU, W4YFJ.We need more ops!note: if this message ended up in your junk or spam folder, please let me know. I'm working to fix all that.Let's have a ball being W1AW. Can't wait for the pileups!Mitch "You can email Mitch using his email address: w1sj@arrl.net if you would like to participate in this operating opportunity.73 de STARC ... See MoreSee Less
