2025 Simulated Emergency TestingThis is from Leigh AC1IX about this event:" I am sending you this email to see if the St. Albans Amateur Radio Club’s members might be interested in participating in this event. Below is the email I sent to the VT ARES group. Anyone interested can email me. Please put 2025 SET in the subject line.We need to maintain preparedness for several reasons: Immediate Response - We are here and will be the first to respond. Government limitations Slow to react Overburdened with tasks like search and rescue Underfunded resources Community Support - Our friends, family, and neighbors will need our assistanceWe can best serve them by being prepared. When I got my first license in 2012, I felt that with it came a responsibility to assist where I could. I felt the same way when I got my drone pilot’s license. Both because I could now do something others could not. Reaching out to help is the right thing to do, in whatever way I can. Upcoming Event: Simulated Emergency TestOn October 4 and 5, ARRL has a Simulated Emergency Test. The purpose is the same as our weekly nets and hospital drills, namely, to test preparedness. There will be a score associated with this. I’m not hoping for a top score, just a baseline upon which we can improve. I want everyone’s input, but due to the truncated nature of our prep, I have several ideas below. Hospital drill is included as part of this exercise, which may involve station-to-station simulated emergency traffic. Backup power stress test. This would run 6 times each day, recording the power level (approximations or just that a station checked in) as well as the number of transmissions by the station during the period. This activity will give us a semi-real-world test of battery systems. HF Drill with relays as appropriate. Skywarn network: Reporting on a major simulated event. We will need content for these activities and may add more as needed. There is a 2 tier reporting setup for this event. For NCS, you will use this form, ARRL Net Manager SET Report: FORM B, as well as a report similar to our usual Tuesday night report. This report would include the name of the net, time, and a list of call signs. This list will serve as a supplemental document for ARRL, to be incorporated into an overall report and stored accordingly. The second tier is the overall report of participation sent to ARRL, summarizing all activities.Again, I am not looking for perfection, just a reasonable, honest effort from which we can improve. I will be reaching out to the 2 District Emergency coordinators as well as radio clubs around the state. If you know anyone who would be interested, please reach out to them and let me know. This test will need to be, just like in an emergency, a group effort. Any questions, comments, or other input is greatly appreciated. Please put 2025 SET in the subject of any emails so they stand out. Leigh Dupee ldupee@outlook.comAC1IX "www.arrl.org/simulated-emergency-test73 de STARC ... See MoreSee Less
