2019 Run For Jim – Volunteers Needed

This year's Run for Jim event will be held on Sunday, May 9th at the Collins Perley Sport & Fitness Center: Route 104, St. Albans, VT.   STARC has helped provide radio communications for this event for the last several years, and is looking for volunteers to help out with this year's event.   The entire “run” typically lasts 2 hours or less, making this an easy event for any ARO's to help out with.   If you are interested in assisting with this event, please contact Arn Benjamin at n1arn@yahoo.com. Below is a write-up on the significance of this event: The  Run for Jim  Memorial Fund was established in memory of Jimmy Bashaw who died at the age of 45 from brain cancer.   Jimmy was a teacher and longtime girl’s basketball coach at Bellows Free Academy of St. Albans. Jimmy’s family and friends wish to remember him by continuing his kind and charitable ways by helping others in their time of need.  The proceeds of this event are used to aid residents of Franklin and Grand Isle counties with expenses related to catastrophic illnesses.   These awards are distributed through the Jim Bashaw Memorial Fund at the Northwestern…

Nick Flora, KB1RWB – Silent Key

It is with great sadness, STARC has learned of the passing of Nick Flora, KB1RWB, on Saturday, February 9, 2019.   Nick was one of our most active club members, always willing to lend a hand whenever needed.   He has served as our club Secretary since January of 2018. Most importantly,  he has been a great friend to all of us at STARC.   He will be greatly missed. STARC Holiday Party – December 27th

CVFMA SWAP Fest – February 2nd, 2019

You are invited to a Springfield Amateur Radio Swap Fest. It is sponsored by the Connecticut Valley FM Association an ARRL affiliated Amateur Radio Club. Door Prizes, 50/50 Raffle. Coffee and donuts will be available to stave off those early morning hunger attacks. Saturday February 2nd,2019 at the VFW Post 771, Springfield, VT is the date and place. Setup starts at 7:00AM with the main event kicking off at 8:00AM. NOTE: The entrance to the VFW is to the right of the Mobile gas station at the junction of River Street and Route 11, across from the Springfield Shopping Plaza. Free admission for all attendees! Winning the 50/50 raffle could pay for that new handheld you always wanted or cover the cost of gas, snack, and possibly a table or two.
